Back Arsenal To Win Their Champions League Group
Sentiment is split in North London as to whether Arsene Wenger and the club he’s managed for 20 years should part ways. This season will most likely decide Wenger’s fate. For the gaffer, and the Gunners faithful, there has never been a more important season.
So, how will Arsenal perform both domestically and in Europe and will the North Londoners be able to progress deep into the Champions League? All odds, unless otherwise stated, are brought to you by Bovada.
Odds To Win Champions League Group A: +150
If you’re going to make at least one Arsenal bet this year, which we have no doubt you will, back Arsenal to win Group A ahead of PSG. Most sportsbooks have PSG favored to win the group, but don’t let that deter you. Arsenal has learned their lesson from last year and will be formidable in the group stage of the 2016-17 Champions League. At +150, it’s a bet can’t afford not to take.
Arsenal currently sits at +2500 to win The Champions League outright, but we believe it’s currently too big of an ask for this current team. Rob Holding will need some time to mature but will be an integral part of Arsenal’s back four once he does. Shkrodan Mustafi needs time to adapt to his new environment and has to get a feel for the change of pace he’ll experience at Arsenal.
We like Arsenal to qualify for the Champions League before falling just shy of a semi-final berth and believe the Gunners have a real chance in forthcoming season’s to win Europe’s premier club competition so long as the North Londoners can keep this current squad together.
Arsenal Winning Premier League: +1000
There’s a ton of work to be done before handing the title to the North Londoners and a lot will depend on how the team’s new signings adapt to life in the Premier League. Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will have to excel for the duration of the season for Arsenal to have any chance of winning the league. The duo need to stay fit for the pieces to fall into place as everyone knows they have the skill, desire and finesse to propel the team lofty levels.
The Gunners are currently fourth favorites to triumph over the rest of the Premier League. Most pundits and online sportsbooks believe that either Man City or Man Utd will win the league this season but Arsenal won’t be dismayed or put off by the naysayers.
Wenger has, by signing young centre back Rob Holding, defender Shkrodan Mustafi, midfielders Lucas Perez and Granit Xhaka, finally placated his naysayers, though he may not be in charge when the signings help Arsenal win the Premier League in a few year’s.
They are, however, quality signings required for Arsenal to take the next step. Xhaka will protect the back four and spearhead the attack while Holding and Mustafi should fit into the starting-11 fold at some point. Holding is only 20 years old and will need some time to mature, but promises to be an excellent, stoic rearguard.
