Areas Where Arsenal Need To Strengthen
Overall, Unai Emery’s debut season at the Gunners will be seen as a success. The connection between the fans and the club was reinstalled, but the devastating defeat in the Europa League final meant that the club wasn’t able to qualify for the Champions League. The return to the top table in Europe would have been the main aim for the Gunners boss at the beginning of the season, but ultimately he fell short in that department.
The club will enter next season among the outsiders to compete for the Premier League title, but punters can take advantage of the Black Type Bet Coupon and maximise their returns on a possible cup win for the club. Arsenal will begin the season among the favourites for the Europa League title, and using gentcode.co.uk; punters can bet big of European success for the first time in the club’s history.
However, the possibility of any kind of success will likely hinge on whether the squad is strengthened over the summer months. A rebuild is certainly needed if the Gunners want to get back to the level where they deserve they should be.
Defence
The defence that the Gunners have has needed a drastic overhaul since the Arsene Wenger days. None of the defenders at the club could give a credible reason why they should be exempt from the axe, but it’s unlikely that all of the defenders that need to be offloaded will be sold in the same window. However, the more significant earners such as Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny will be the two that will likely lead the departures.
The duo have been responsible for their fair share of defensive mistakes over the past couple of seasons and will likely free up wage space for somebody substantial to sure up the defence. Players such as Harry Maguire and Samuel Umtiti have both been muted as possible replacements, and those two would certainly be a major upgrade on what the club currently has. The defence is fundamentally where the club are failing, and if they aren’t to fix the problem, then they won’t be able to compete with the league’s best.
Midfield
The additions of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi have been excellent signings, but there are still doubts surrounding much of the other players. The main question will be surrounding the long-term future of Mesut Ozil. The German international showed flashes of brilliance last season, but for the most part, was unwilling to work as hard as is needed for the team. The departure of Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer has only fuelled the fire on this, as Ramsey worked tirelessly for the club for the duration of his stay, and Ozil looks unable to do the same for 90 minutes.
There will need to be a new creative midfielder brought in; with James Madison being an obvious target. Meanwhile, another holding midfielder may also be looked at.
Wingers
The one area of the field where Arsenal are continually linked with players is in the wide areas. Danny Welbeck will be departing the club when his contract expires, and it seems that the club have already identified Yannick Carrasco as the man to replace him.
The former Atletico Madrid man has spent the last few years of his career in China but has grown increasingly frustrated with life in Asia and has expressed his interest in a move back to Europe. The Emirates could be the perfect place for the Belgium international to resurrect his career.
