Arsenal look to put down a marker
Match Preview: Arsenal vs. Leicester City – Premier League – 11.08.2017
So, here we are. A new season beckons and Arsenal have been tasked with setting the tone for the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.
After a poor league finish the Gunners will be looking to put a marker down and buck their recent trend of a slow start. We’ve seen Arsenal time and again find their form when it they are free from the burden of expectation but Arsenal’s players are under pressure to burn their 5th placed finished out of the fans’ minds with a shiny league trophy.
Wenger’s summer business so far has been positive and few could argue that Arsenal’s first 11-15 players are of title winning calibre but do they have the depth beyond that? There is still time to bring reinforcements to the club but for the first few games at least they should have enough.
Arsenal (from): Cech, Martinez, Macey, Bellerin, Holding, Kolasinac, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Gibbs, Maitland-Niles, Coquelin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Özil, Walcott, Reine-Adelaide, Iwobi, Lacazette, Welbeck, Giroud.

Opposition watch
From Arsenal.com
While Leicester were excellent at dead ball situations in their title-winning season, they struggled when defending corners last season – especially after a clampdown from referees on shirt-pulling. They’re not a particularly tall side, and Arsenal might get some joy at set-pieces.
Factfile
- Arsenal have won their last 10 home games against Leicester
- The Gunners have only won 1 of their last 7 season openers
- Arsenal have never lost a league game on a Friday

2-0 win for Arsenal.
