Flamini Signs New 5 Year Contract

Mathieu Flamini spoke of his immense pride today as he signed a new 5 year contract at Arsenal.

Arsenal have struggled in the defensive midfield department in recent years but since proving himself to the manager in the summer of 2013 Flamini has become an integral part of the side and follows fellow defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin in committing his future to The Gunners.

Arsène Wenger claimed that tying his compatriot to an extended deal was “like a new signing”.

Mathieu is a fit boy who looks after himself. He recently took up a new form of yoga and instantly in training I saw the years roll back, he is like a new signing. He has incredible leadership skills, his pointing and shouting at the same time ability is unrivalled and I am utterly convinced he can be the next captain of Arsenal and that is why we decided to extend his contract.

Flamini credits his new fitness regime with giving the manager the confidence to extend his Arsenal stay to 2020.

I recently took up a Yoga/Street Dance hybrid which has really helped my flexibility and balance. I am a huge fan of Ke$ha and Iggy Azalea so I enjoy ‘getting down’ to some of their most popular tracks like We R Who We R and Fancy. I don’t always understand what they are saying but the beat is good for my stretches.

Wenger believes that Flamini’s balance and close ball control has improved so much that he could be utilised in a more forward position.

Flamini is just 1 league appearance away from featuring in 150 league games for Arsenal and is tipped to wear the armband against Liverpool. It is clear the Frenchman is overwhelmed at his new contract and how the Arsenal fans have welcomed him back to the club with open arms.

I knew when I left they would struggle to replace me and because of that the fans would not remember me fondly but now I am back they know what they have missed and I am their favourite player again. Every week I hear them boo when I start or come on as a substitute because they are displeased at my previous omissions. Thankfully the boss has listened to the fans and given me this new contract so I can continue my love affair with the Arsenal fans.
