Arsene Wenger’s hunt for a striker in January does not appear to be slowing down with the Arsenal manager reportedly weighing up a move for Manchester City forward, Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnia & Herzegovina international’s name is rumoured to now be on Wenger’s shortlist, which includes Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Juventus striker, Fernando Llorente.

With Oliver Giroud in danger of burning out after being used as the Gunners’ main frontman this season, Wenger is well aware that strengthening his attacking options could be the difference between the Gunners sustaining their title challenge and not.

Arsenal’s impressive form in the Premier League so far this year has put the team right up there in the football betting but Wenger needs to strengthen his squad if the club are going to maintain their title charge.

Whoever Arsenal do sign in January could have a big impact on whether those who bet on football believe the Gunners can sustain their title charge this season.

Arsenal’s interest in Dzeko comes following a frustrating season so far for the Manchester City striker, so far restricted to bit-part role at the Etihad due to the form of Sergio Aguero and summer signing Alvaro Negredo.

With Bosnia & Herzegovina’s debut appearance in the World Cup coming up next year, Dzeko knows the importance of playing regular first-team football between now and next summer’s tournament.

While Real Madrid’s Benzema appears to be Wenger’s number-one target in January, Dzeko could possibly be a more sensible signing for the Gunners when the transfer window opens.

Since arriving at the club in 2011, the City striker has shown he is more than capable of scoring regularly in the Premier League when given an extended run in the team. And at 27-years old, Dzeko is entering his prime years and would be an extremely useful player to have in this Arsenal squad.
