Crystal Palace v Arsenal Premier League Recap
The last clash between Crystal Palace and Arsenal was expected to be “intense”, at least this is what Arsene Wenger expected it to be. Some call him “the master of understatement” for this – Arsenal came away with three points and winning the game 2-1. Both sides played excellent. Let’s see what happened (for those of you who have missed the game).
The home side was great, keeping pressure on Arsenal but not allowing the team to keep the ball for too long at a time. From the first whistle they kept attacking with crosses, and as the game went on, they changed their game – they started launching long balls to the big strikers. A glimmer of hope was what they got when Glenn Murray scored. But it was not meant to be – the two first-half goals scored by the Gunners, both of them involving Welbeck, have sealed the deal. The first goal was a penalty shot, a swift revenge after the was fouled on the field – t was made worth it by Santi Cazorla. He was involved in the second goal as well – his shot was stopped by Speroni, but Giroud was there to save the day.
Welbeck gave the highest performance during last Saturday’s match, but as usual, he was not appreciated at his true worth. Ozil has shown his true quality with a break in the second half, which unfortunately Alexis – who can be over-elaborate at times – failed to convert into a goal. Giroud was one of the players who have scored during the game – his eighth time in the last 11 matches – but he apparently wasn’t his best during the match. According to analysts, though, the replacements were no better – Kieran Gibbs has replaced Ozil, but he does not have the same ball retention skills, Gabriel was sent on the field to improve the team’s defenses, but his appearance was followed by a goal and a post by the Crystal Palace. Rosicky had the potential to change the dynamic of the game, but even with him, the Gunners struggled to keep the ball.
Since it was defeated by the Spurs, Arsenal has won three times in a row. The result of this weekend’s match was even more important since Manchester United dropped points to Swansea. The Gunners will have to keep up the good work if they want to keep their current third place in the Premier League, or even advance. The Gunners will have no time to play at online casino canada in the coming week – they will have to face Monaco at the Emirates Stadium, followed by their next fixture against Everton on the 28th.
